Year’s Best Letter to the Editor
June 22nd, 2012 by Peter
It is unlikely to win one of the Courant’s “best letters of the year” awards, but it should. Daniel Harazim calls out our local paper of record for ignoring Father’s Day and boy, does he have their number:
I might have at least thought that the paper would do a fabulous spread on the glories of gay fatherhood.
Ouch. (On a sad side note, the last time the Courant did promote gay fatherhood they chose a couple that was later accused of abuse.)
And then there is this:
In retrospect, considering that on Mother’s Day we were treated to the macabre spectacle of the choice of non-motherhood as portrayed by columnist Susan Campbell [May 13, Opinion, “My Most Personal Decision”], perhaps we’re all better off that The Courant did nothing.
You can read Mr. Harazim’s excellent letter here.
(And while we are not shy about criticizing the Courant ourselves, we should note that Ms. Campbell’s pro-abortion Mother’s Day column appeared alongside an outstanding rebuttal from a surprising source.)
