FIC extends its congratulations to Raymond Bechard, who has notched an important pro-family victory on the issue of human trafficking. The Hartford Advocate has eliminated its online “escort”advertisement website. We hope that the elimination of The Advocate’s print ads shall soon follow.

It is still imperative that the House and Senate send H.B. 5504 to Gov. Malloy’s desk for his signature— as The Hartford Advocate is not the sole publisher of print and online escort ads. H.B. 5504, “An Act Concerning the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of a Minor”,  which FIC supports, would make it a criminal offense for a publisher to publish an “escort” advertisement involving a minor of less than 18 years. The original language has been modified, but it is still a powerful first step in ending the anti-family scourge of underage human trafficking in Connecticut.
