From the Connecticut Catholic Conference:

Save The Date and Plan To Attend

Select Committee on Children Will Hold An Informational Forum on Parental Notification of A Minor’s Abortion (Six Speakers on Each Side of The Issue)

Friday, April 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.

Room 2C of the Legislative Office Building [LOB]

Overflow Rooms – Rooms 2B and 2D

Connecticut Is One of the Few States That Allow A Minor to Have An Abortion Without Parental Involvement in The Decision….

Ironically, In Order To Protect The Health Of A Minor, The Connecticut General Assembly Passed A Law In 2006 Requiring A Minor To Obtain Written Parental Consent Before Going To A Sun Tan Parlor.

The public will not be invited to speak, but we hope our members will attend to lend their support. This hearing will mark the first major discussion of abortion at the LOB in years. As we saw with the partial-birth abortion issue, getting to have the discussion is half the battle. And, on this issue, even many “pro-choicers” believe parents should at least be notified before their minor daughters can obtain abortions.

Thank you for getting this issue on the docket. Hopefully,
    this will become a bill.

Someone needs to teach the Connecticut Catholic Conference the meaning of irony. One may find the State’s passage of a law protecting kids from sunburns to be many different things, but ironic ain’t it.

Seriously, I find the comparison made really useless. Their intent is clear, but what are they suggesting? Should we not protect children from lesser harms until we are in agreement as to how to protect them from greater harms.

Cheap word play that is really beneath them.

“We” are in agreement. Parental notification is supported by the majority on both sides of the abortion debate. Now, if only our masters in Hartford would see it as everyone else obviously does.
