Maybe we should hire him to do our public relations:

EAST HAVEN — State Rep. Michael P. Lawlor, D-East Haven, accused his Republican opponent, Dan McCann, this week of reneging on a promise to cut ties with a Hartford-based group that opposes same-sex marriage.

McCann, a 2nd District Town Council member, in turn accused Lawlor of being soft on drug laws and out of step with average residents and running a campaign that is financed largely by outside interests.

Lawlor seized on a letter the Family Institute of Connecticut Action Committee mailed to town voters that read in part:
“Lawlor knows we will be backing Dan’s campaign again — and he’s afraid. That’s why he helped plant a false story in a local paper last March claiming Dan had ‘cut ties’ with FIC Action Committee. He was trying to undermine Dan’s popularity with the pro-family voters of East Haven. The truth is that we have been working closely with Dan all along.”

Curiously, the New Haven Register article excerpted above provides no further quotes from that letter, in which we spell out several of Rep. Lawlor’s attacks on faith and family over the last several years.

But we are pleased to see the disinformation from last March cleared up. Dan McCann is indeed the pro-family candidate for state representative in East Haven and we are happy to support him.
