The “transgender rights” bill, like other attacks on religious freedom, died a well-deserved legislative death as the session wound to a close at midnight. But pro-abortion activists are promising to continue their efforts to exploit rape victims as a cover for their assault on religious freedom:

HARTFORD — The last day of any General Assembly session is always a frantic day, a frenzy of legislating, deal-making and -breaking, plotting and counterplotting, pleading and wheedling.

This was the case Wednesday for the activists, organizations and legislators who proposed to require all state hospitals — including the state’s four Catholic institutions — to provide emergency contraception to rape victims.

“The legislature let the clock run out on rape victims,” said Laura Cordes, director of policy and advocacy for Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services Inc.

Cordes and Carolyn Treiss, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Connecticut, vowed to continue the effort on emergency contraception.

“We will not be deterred,” Cordes said.

The 2006 agenda of the opponents of faith, family and freedom is essentially a big neon-lighted advertisement of what they have planned for the rest of us in 2007. Or rather, it shows what they have planned unless we elect pro-family candidates on Election Day. It is something every pro-family voter in Connecticut should be thinking about as we get closer to November.
