delauro

Pro-abortion Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro is not shy in lecturing others–even the Pope–in what she believes to be her superior knowledge of Catholic doctrine. Last week, she got a taste of her own medicine and she did not like it one bit. From our friend, Connecticut pro-life activist Kathy Upson:

Hi friends,

I just  went to an event in Naugatuck where Rep DeLauro met individually with constituents.  It was take a number and wait your turn, so I went grocery shopping to kill time.

Before I had my turn, one of her workers told me she was behind schedule, so to please be brief.

I was totally respectful, and thanked her for giving me the opportunity to speak with her, saying I knew she could easily win re-election even if she didn’t campaign at all.

I told her that as a Catholic, I and many of my Catholic friends are very disturbed by the Obama/Sebelius mandate interfering with religious freedom.  She got pretty exercised about it, saying I was wrong, denying that what I said was true.  I’m not going to regurgitate her whole argument other than to say she raised her voice, pointed her finger at me, jabbing the air while she spoke.  She did say that any church, mosque, or monastery could do what they want.  When I brought up Catholic hospitals and other institutions, she started talking about Protestants who work in them.  When I said that it was indeed a violation of the 1st amendment right to religious freedom, she snapped, “I represent Protestants too.,” getting visibly more angry.  She asked me if I care about anything else other than contraception, I said, yes, I care about abortion and the influence of Planned Parenthood.  Then she really got agitated, saying, ” All you care about is contraception and abortion, what about hunger and the poor…”  I said I’ve only been given a minute to talk to you. I said, “I didn’t come here expecting you to agree with me,but I want you to know that you represent Catholics who are upset about the mandate.”

As I walked away, I thought, what a complete and utter waste of my time.  But as I drove home, I realized that I got her upset, and I never raised my voice or jabbed my finger at her like she did to me.  So maybe deep down, she knows what a lie her agenda really is.

God bless us all,

Kathy

Somewhere, Congressman Paul Ryan and Pope Benedict XVI are smiling…and the unborn, too.

Good for you Kathy! I did the same thing to Hillary Clinton. Sometimes it is enough just to ruffle their feathers and remind them that they do NOT speak for us, and that we are more than capable of speaking for ourselves!
    Wish I had seen i!

Raymond Cardinal Burke: “The United States of America is a thoroughly secularized society which canonizes radical individualism and relativism, even before the natural moral law. The application [of Canon 915 re. withholding Communion], therefore, is more necessary than ever, lest the faithful, led astray by the strong cultural trends of relativism, be deceived concerning the supreme good of the Holy Eucharist and the gravity of supporting publicly the commission of intrinsically evil acts. Catholics in public office bear an especially heavy burden of responsibility to uphold the moral law in the exercise of their office which is exercised for the common good, especially the good of the innocent and defenseless. When they fail, they lead others, Catholics and non-Catholics alike, to be deceived regarding the evils of procured abortion and other attacks on innocent and defenseless human life, on the integrity of human procreation, and on the family…the minister of Holy Communion is to deny the Sacrament to those [Catholics in public office] who obstinately persevere in manifest grave sin.” http://www.therealpresence.org/eucharst/holycom/denial.htm “Cardinal Bergoglio [now Pope Francis I] clearly stated that being disallowed holy communion was a consequence for those who facilitated an abortion—politicians included.” http://liveactionnews.org/pope-francis-i-clear-on-denying-communion-to-those-who-facilitate-in-abortion/
