False Victimization

It is quite unfortunate when those on one side of a political argument decide to fabricate stories in order to garner attention and cause others to believe in a falsehood. On May 2nd, Central Connecticut State University student Alexandra Pennell was arrested for an alleged ongoing scheme of deception. After issuing several reports to authorities stating that she had been receiving hate letters because of her homosexuality, it is now being reported that Pennell, according to police, confessed to having written the notes all along.
In response to the presumed maltreatment she was receiving, Pennell addressed an anti-hate rally on campus in which hundreds of students attended on March 13.
“All I have to say is that I’m not going to be run out of my home, and I will not be intimidated by hate,” Pennell said at the rally.
CCSU took the alleged case against the student very seriously. The campus police set up thorough investigations to disclose from whom this hatred was derived. A surveillance camera was set up in Pennell’s dorm room, which she later disabled, claiming the cable pulled out accidentally when she opened her desk drawer. Authorities reenacted this scenario and determined it was highly unlikely; even more likely was the fact that Pennell had tampered with the device.
With the suspiciousness of the situation, another camera was installed, unbeknownst to Pennell. Here, the truth unfolded that Pennell had been writing the notes and slipping them under her dorm room door. When confronted, she admitted to being the one behind the notes, stating her reason for doing so was to receive attention from her friends.
Pennell is now facing several charges due to the fabrication of evidence and false statements she is alleged to have issued to the police.
This strategy of false victimization is prevalent in today’s political culture. Sadly, many embark on this approach in order to gain attention and pity from others. In an act of desperation to win others to their side, people succumb to such dishonest schemes. In a society where people think reality can be redefined, truth can become immersed in an ever flowing tidal wave of lies until it is drowned out altogether.
Kudos to the police for exposing the deception and to the Hartford Courant for putting it right on the front page, where it belonged.
This does not surprise me given the way the militant part of the gay movement acts. They will do anything to advance their agenda. The ends always justify the means with these people.
