40daysbridgeportBridgeport’s 40 Days for Life campaign, which ended earlier this month, has saved six lives. From our friend, Christine Murphy:

Thank you, God for another inspirational 40 Days for Life!

If you receive the devotionals from the national website, you know that 668 babies have been saved during the entire 40 Days for Life campaign, and according to Marilyn Carroll and Carmen Vazquez of OSA, 6 babies were saved at Summit Women’s Center in that time frame! We thank God for these babies that we know about and we pray that there are many more spared that we don’t know about, and we pray for the babies who were not given a chance to live.

The candlelight vigil yesterday afternoon was a fitting way to end the 40 Days, as the Sisters said, bringing light to a place of darkness. Thank you Sr. Mary Concepta and Sr. Bernadette Therese for arranging such a beautiful celebration and for all your efforts for the  Days for Life (they are too numerous to list). They organized a wonderful committee this year to lighten the work load, so once again thank you to: Tom & Janet Jensen, George & Madelyn Meagher, Gene D’Agostino, Tina Kelly, Jim & Eleanor Moore, Deirdre Condon and Fr. Martin deMayo for your countless hours of help.

We had about 50 or so people in attendance praying, singing and sharing stories, and our spirits were not dampened by the rain. It was so wonderful to have Fr. Peter Towsley from St. Ann, Bridgeport and some of the seminarians from St. John Fisher with us, as well.

Thank you to everyone who came, and to all of you for your contributions of your time at the clinic and your prayers every day for the unborn and for all those involved in the tragedy of abortion. You helped to make this campaign run smoothly, in spite of some of the resistance we met with this year. Special thanks to Cpt. Robert Sapiro of the Bridgeport Police Dept for acting as liaison and going above and beyond the call of duty! Many of you came regularly, donated supplies, etc. and I am more grateful than you can ever know.

Hopefully this is not the end of your pro-life efforts for the year. You can continue to peacefully pray in front of Summit Women’s Center, or at another clinic in or near your town. You can make monetary donations to crisis pregnancy centers or pro-life causes (go to 40daysforlife.com/bridgeport to see how to donate to us).

I’ve heard from many of you what a blessing it was to be able to stand vigil at the clinic and meet so many dedicated pro-lifers, and I have to agree. I feel very blessed to have prayed and talked with many of you, either at the clinic or on the phone. Let’s keep praying for an end to the culture of death. I’m putting together a slide show of some of the pictures that were taken at the site and sent to me and I’ll send that in another e-mail.

Don’t forget to see October Baby when it opens in Fairfield (or in Stamford, Landmark Square Theatres & S. Norwalk, Regent 8 Theatres) on April 13.

Thank you & God Bless,

Christine Murphy
