Message to Fiscal Conservatives

Elect a politician who is a fiscal-conservative-but-not-a-social-conservative and you will soon find that she is not even a fiscal conservative.

How do you mean? What are you referring to? Can you add to this post?

Doesn’t it seem a stretch to make a rule of thumb like that based upon a single sample – Gov. Rell?

I agree with Peter’s statement totally! In fact I believe I posted something to this effect months ago on one of the threads. I DO NOT TRUST (and will not vote for) anyone running for office who says “I am a fiscal conservative, but more moderate on the social issues.”

This is NOT to say that I want to impose my beliefs upon others, but rather that IMO, someone who does not realize that Fiscal Conservatism and Social Conservatism are MUTUALLY SUPPORTIVE is saying to me that he or she will NOT stand on principle! Such a person is so eager to not alienate any potential voter, that he or she has NO INTEGRITY, and will *compromise* away anything they initially promised or stood for—in order to gain power with their party, or to be reelected, etc.!

Incidentally, I just returned from the March on D.C., where I carried (among others) a sign which had that message: “Social Conservatism and Fiscal Conservatism are MUTUALLY SUPPORTIVE!”

If you believe Peter’s “Message to Fiscal Conservatives,” then I recommend that you join the volunteers of the Independence Caucus, at http://www.icaucus.org., and please *spread the word* about this movement to find, vet and help elect people of INTEGRITY, who will represent the PEOPLE!

And when I say “represent the people,” I mean that in a REAL sense, rather than the usual behavior, once they get elected, ignore the people in favor of feathering their own nests—in their avarice to acquire as much personal power and influence within their *political party* as possible—at the EXPENSE of the TAXPAYERS!
