Several recent missteps by Connecticut’s senior U.S. Senator have caused some to question his integrity. Today, it’s my turn:

Peter Wolfgang, who leads the Family Institute of Connecticut, said that Dodd’s reversal was motivated by political expediency.

“He took a position against same-sex marriage when he was running for president because that was the most politically palpable position,” Wolfgang said. “Now suddenly he’s in favor of same-sex marriage because he is in a very tight campaign for re-election. … He needs every dollar he can get and he cannot afford to alienate the very well-heeled cultural left.”

You can read Dodd’s history with the issue–and FIC’s history with Dodd–here. FIC Action Committee does not make endorsements in federal races.

Christopher Dodd, A self called catholic (with a small “c”) is yet another one of those enlightened (read: heretical) Catholics who is against nearly all teaching of Catholic doctrine on faith and morals. You know the typical cop out quote that goes something like this….”Well I believe such and such but cannot force my own personal held beliefs on others” unless of course those beliefs are for higher taxes, punitive action on private business, opposing parental consent for minors, partial birth abortion, etc, etc, etc.

For Dodd, his beliefs, his faith you see, is a matter of convenience. For such a man as he, there is no solid core belief to profess, except that of his liberal socialist Democrat persona. When you don’t know what you believe in your core, on matters such as abortion, or homosexual unions, then you will simply profess to others what it is you think they want to hear simply to get elected in the most expedient way possible.

Dodd is just another supposed Catholic who is an enlightened “catholic” a “Cafeteria Catholic”. It is such a man to whom Jesus Christ spoke to in Thursdays Gospel according to Saint Matthew saying:…..”Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

It is such a self proclaimed Christian man as Dodd who risks hearing those dreaded words of our lord saying…..”And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you evil doers.”

    On “flip-flopping” and “expediency”—

Over recent years (even before the current “economic crisis”) I have come to the conclusion that even wearing a genuine “Fiscal Conservative” label is NOT SUFFICIENT incentive for me to vote for a candidate.

It is absolutely NOT that I want to dictate to others how they should live their lives, in moral or religious aspects. However, I am now convinced that any candidate who says “I am *fiscally* “conservative,” but more “moderate” on “social issues” is ACTUALLY SAYING:

I will *compromise* PRINCIPLES, whenever needed—in order to get elected, for the sake of collegiality within my party (congress or whatever), or to garner votes in order to be RE elected!

Such a person has NO INTEGRITY, in my view, and will NOT get my vote!!
